Bateleur Camp main&Beyond Bateleur Camp

Situated below the location where Out of Africa’s famous final scene was filmed, this romantic and totally private camp reflects the ambience of Kenyan safaris of the 20’s and 30’s. &Beyond Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo, the epitome of tented luxury, is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and comprises just two intimate camps of nine tented suites each, set among the forests on the edge of the Masai Mara. The tented suites have a classic elegance with polished wooden floors and ensuite bathrooms. Each tent has its own deck overlooking the vast game-filled plains of the Masai Mara, and a personal butler will ensure every need is catered for.
Beautiful antiques adorn the comfortable sitting and indoor/outdoor dining areas, transporting guests to the heyday of classic safaris. The Camps also feature deep refreshing lap pools. Delicious Pan African meals are served in memorable settings under the stars, followed by fireside port and cigars.

The Masai Mara National Park is Kenya’s most renowned game park, situated in the northern extension of the Serengeti. Its legendary Great Migration, of over two million wildebeest and other antelope, has been described as one of nature’s greatest wildlife spectacles – and an experience every safari enthusiast should witness at least once in their lifetime. Game viewing in this celebrated park is wonderful all round the year, with virtually guaranteed sightings of the Big Five. The park takes its name from the Mara River, which flows through the reserve, and the Maasai people, a tribe whose red dress and proud demeanor have ensured they are probably Kenya’s best-known (and most-photographed) people.

Angama Mara mainAngama Mara

On the rim of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment, overlooking the Mara Triangle, with vast amounts of animals, and most spectacularly the iconic wildebeest migration, lies Angama Mara. A place where the light never sits still. The sun shining through the clouds creates chaotic shadows, ever on the move across the Mara plains. The sky – ‘anga’ in Swahili – melts into the horizon, and it is hard to define where it ends and the earth begins.

The lovely Swahili word ‘angama’, meaning ‘hanging or suspended in mid-air’, inspired the name Angama Mara. The site completely speaks to this, as each tented suite and guest area hangs on the edge of the Rift Valley, with views that quite simply take your breath away.

giraffe manor kenya mainGiraffe Manor

Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic historical buildings dating back to the 1930s and is reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. Whilst the building itself resonates with the past, very much present is the herd of eight resident Rothschild giraffe who tend to visit the Manor in the mornings and evenings to greet guests and sniff out some snacks before venturing out into their sanctuary of 140 acres. From 1974, Giraffe Manor was the home of Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville, whose lifelong ambition became the preservation of this beautiful and threatened species of giraffe.
